My summer is about to end, and again I will be back on campus. I am exited to return to campus. I just don’t know if I am going to have too much free time again. I am once again excited to go knit in my classes, and knitting all around the campus. I just cant wait for summer to end already. I am one of those people who actually like being in school.
Summer is about to end, and I am headed back to school on September 1st. I am excited and also a little sadden with the fact that this will be my last semester on the campus, because for next semester I am going to be commuting.
So for this summer I had the chance to work on somethings, I was not able to finish at lot of things this summer. I have casted on several things, and I have been working on what I currently have on the needles. It has been challenging to find the balance of knitting and working full time. Soon it is going to get more interesting cause I will be going to school, and will be working part time. Let just hope it is not going to be like the last time I was working. However this semester is not really filled with projects that are very time consuming to make.
A very punny Sweater
I recently started to work on a sweater, and it is currently one of my favorite. I have currently dropped everything that I am knitting Once and Floral by Max Cyr, and it is my favorite sweater that I have knitted so far.
The color work of the sweater is just sublime. The pattern is written pretty well, and I did not have an issue with following the around the pattern. I did have an issue but with the back shaping, but that was completely my fault and I had trouble with back shaping where I miscounted the amount if stitches that I had, but everything was all good after I realized that. It low key sucks when I finally noticed it is when I was already dividing for the sleeves, So I pretty much wasted a weeks worth of knitting. Currently now I am at the point of the sweater where it is technically smooth sailing. My main goal is to finish the body and start working on the sleeves, and have to deal with the dreaded sleeve island.
Monday Memory Blanket
Christina from Chelsea Yarns was telling me that she is going to be working on a blanket using scrap yarn. I started one like the spring of 2018, and the issue that I found why I had hand not picked it up recently is because I have been overwhelmed with the whole Idea of knitting hundreds of those squares to make a blanket. I am also overwhelmed especially with the needles I was working on. I was using the Addi FlexFlips which is an amazing product. However one of the issues that I have to face with using that product is because my hands are very large for the short stems of the needles. (Certain needles I can't work with especially one how short the needles are. The minimum that could work with is a a needles length of 4 inches, and that is already uncomfortable for my hands.) So I switched it out to a pair of ChiaoGoo needles.
I finally figured out one way how to do it thanks to Christina, and I am going to take it once square at a time. I will put some time for that blanket one day a week, and then eventually that blanket is going to be complete, and I just need to make sure I actually follow through the routine.
The socks are still not done
For this year I attempted to work on a sock every month and I am still struggling to finished up with my socks and it is getting to the point where I need to finish them soon. Especially I recently picked up a pair of Birkenstock Bostons so I can finally show off my knitted socks that I have made. But the thing is I need to make more socks, especially soon that it is going to become colder again.
